Information about children

Most of the students we work with are under 18. We usually collect their information from a parent or guardian, including through our client profile form, and we only use it to teach and mentor them.

  • Students who sign up themselves. Students can request the Year 13 Survival Plan directly. The guide is written for Year 13 students, who are usually 17 or 18. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13 without a parent’s involvement.
  • Sensitive details. Parents sometimes tell us about a child’s health, wellbeing or special educational needs so we can teach them well. We only record this where it helps us support the student, keep it to the people working with them, and delete it when we no longer need it. We only use these details with your explicit consent, which you can give by ticking the consent box on our client profile form and withdraw at any time.
  • Safeguarding. If we believe a child is at risk of harm, we may share information with the relevant authorities without consent, as the law allows.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your information. We share it only with the mentor who works with your child, and with the service providers below, who handle it on our behalf.

Our mentors are self-employed. They only see the information they need to teach your child, and we ask them not to keep student information on their own devices. Where a mentor does hold information on their own device, it must be encrypted, and they delete it when tuition ends.

Cookies and tracking

We use a small number of cookies that the site needs to work, such as those that protect our forms from spam. With your consent, we also use:

  • Google Analytics: to see which pages are visited and how people find us.
  • Google Ads and the Meta Pixel: to see whether someone who clicked one of our ads went on to contact us. When you send us an enquiry, Google Ads also receives a scrambled (hashed) copy of the email address and phone number you entered, so it can match your enquiry to an ad click without seeing the details themselves. This is called enhanced conversions.

These only run if you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time using the Manage consent tab at the bottom of every page. Our cookie policy lists each cookie and how long it lasts.

Your rights and how to complain

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you or your child;
  • ask us to correct it if it’s wrong;
  • ask us to delete it;
  • object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from our emails or changing your cookie settings;
  • ask us to send your information to you or another organisation in a usable format.

To use any of these rights, email naderfadaee@betterlifetuition.com. We’ll reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
