These terms apply to tuition and mentoring provided by Better Life Tuition Ltd (“Better Life Tuition”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16734060), registered office Flat 3 Granby House, 19 Amport Place, London NW7 1BH. By booking lessons with us, you (“you”, the parent or guardian paying for lessons) agree to these terms. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

1. Our services

  1. We provide online tuition in Maths and Science for GCSE, IGCSE and A-level, and mentoring alongside subject teaching. Lessons are delivered online.
  2. We commit to providing the teaching, mentoring, feedback and support that give each student the best possible opportunity to progress. We do not guarantee any particular grade or exam result as outcomes also depend on the student’s own effort, attendance, school provision and exam performance.

2. Fees and payment

  1. Current fees are shown on our pricing page. Tuition is billed in advance every four weeks.
  2. Fees must be paid before lessons in each billing period begin.
  3. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice of any change to our fees.

3. Cancelling or rescheduling a lesson

  1. Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
  2. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, we reserve the right to charge for that lesson.
  3. If we cancel a lesson, we will offer a replacement lesson or credit it to your account.

4. Stopping tuition and refunds

  1. You can stop tuition at any time by emailing support@betterlifetuition.com.
  2. If you stop within three months of your child’s first lesson, we will refund in full any credit for lessons not yet taken.
  3. After three months, we will refund unused credit on a pro-rata basis.
  4. Refunds are paid within 14 days of your request being confirmed.
  5. The Mentoring Program has its own terms (see section 7).
  6. This section covers credit for lessons not yet taken. Refunds for lessons already taken are covered by the Alignment Guarantee in section 6.

5. Changing tutor

If you feel your child and their tutor are not a good match, email support@betterlifetuition.com and we will arrange a rematch at no extra cost. Lesson notes and targets carry over to the new tutor.

6. Alignment Guarantee

  1. Period. The Alignment Guarantee applies for three months from the date of your child’s first paid lesson (the “Guarantee Period”).
  2. Measuring progress. At the start, we agree with you what progress looks like, based on the baseline assessment in your child’s first lesson. Progress is recorded in our written lesson reports.
  3. When you can claim. You can claim if, by the end of the Guarantee Period, our reports do not show measurable progress against the agreed baseline.
  4. How to claim. Email support@betterlifetuition.com within 14 days of the end of the Guarantee Period.
  5. Eligibility. Your child must have attended at least 80% of scheduled lessons. Lessons cancelled by us do not count against this. Fees must be up to date.
  6. What we will do. You choose either (a) a new tutor at no extra cost, or (b) a refund of the lesson fees paid during the Guarantee Period, paid within 14 days of us confirming your claim.
  7. Limits. The guarantee applies once per student and to both the tuition and Mentoring Program. It does not promise any particular grade or exam result.
  8. Mentoring Program families. If you claim the Alignment Guarantee during a Mentoring Program Commitment Period and choose a refund, you are entitled to a full refund of the lesson fees paid during the Guarantee Period. Your Commitment Period then ends, no Discount Adjustment applies, and any deposit is returned in full.
  9. Your legal rights. This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights and does not affect them.

7. Mentoring Program

  1. Commitment Period. The Mentoring Program runs in group sessions. When you join, you choose a commitment of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, starting from the first session (your “Commitment Period”). The minimum is 3 months.
  2. Commitment discounts. Longer Commitment Periods are discounted against the standard rate: 6 months 5%, 9 months 10%, 12 months 15%. Current rates are shown on our pricing page.
  3. Payment. Fees are paid monthly in advance, on the same date each month. You agree to set up a standing order so that payments are made on time.
  4. Deposit. If you choose a 6, 9 or 12-month Commitment Period, a deposit of ยฃ250 is payable when you join. It is held only to cover any Discount Adjustment (see below) if you end the Program early. If you complete your Commitment Period, we return the deposit in full within 14 days of your final payment.
  5. Ending early. You can end the Program before your Commitment Period is complete by emailing support@betterlifetuition.com. Because your discount depends on the length of your commitment, we will recalculate the fees for the months you have completed at the discount for the longest Commitment Period you actually completed (the standard rate if you completed fewer than 6 months). The difference between that amount and what you paid is the “Discount Adjustment”. We deduct it from your deposit and return any balance within 14 days. If the Discount Adjustment is more than the deposit, we will invoice you for the difference.
  6. Example. You choose 12 months at 15% off and end the Program after 7 months. You completed 6 months, so your 7 months are recalculated at 5% off. The Discount Adjustment is the extra 10% on those 7 months’ fees.
  7. Ending within the first 3 months. The 3-month minimum still applies. Fees for the rest of the first 3 months remain payable.
  8. Cancelled sessions. Sessions you cancel are not refunded.
  9. Missed sessions. A missed session can be rebooked within two weeks of the original date, subject to availability. Sessions not rebooked within two weeks are lost.
  10. Sessions we cancel. If we cancel a session, we will offer a replacement session or credit it to your account.
  11. Your legal rights. These terms do not affect your right to cancel within 14 days of booking (section 8) or your other statutory rights.

8. Your right to cancel

  1. Because you book with us online or by phone, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of booking without giving a reason.
  2. If you ask us to start lessons within those 14 days, you will pay for any lessons already delivered, and we will refund the rest.
  3. To cancel, email support@betterlifetuition.com.

9. Safeguarding, conduct and recordings

  1. Our tutors. Every tutor and mentor holds an enhanced DBS check, receives safeguarding training, and is trained by Better Life Tuition before working with students.
  2. Safeguarding lead. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Nader Fadaee. You can contact them at naderfadaee@betterlifetuition.com.
  3. Reporting concerns. If we have a concern about a student’s safety or wellbeing, we will act in the student’s best interests. This may include speaking with you and, where required by law or where a student may be at risk, sharing information with the relevant authorities without first seeking your consent.
  4. Recordings. We do not record lessons. To protect every student’s privacy, we ask that students and families do not record, photograph or screenshot lessons either, unless we have agreed this with you in writing.
  5. Lesson links. Lesson links are private and are shared only with the student and their parent or guardian. Please do not share them with anyone else.
  6. Communication. Tutors and mentors may contact a student directly only after we have received written consent from the student’s parent or guardian (or from the student, if they are 18 or over). Contact may be by phone, text or WhatsApp, and is limited to lessons and learning. For students under 18, a parent or guardian will be included in any WhatsApp group or message thread, and may ask to see any messages at any time. Contact will take place between 8am and 8pm, except where agreed with you. Tutors and mentors will never contact students through social media, including Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok and Facebook. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by emailing support@betterlifetuition.com.
  7. Responsible adult. For students under 18, a parent, guardian or other responsible adult should be in the home during lessons and available if needed.
  8. Learning space. Students should join from a quiet, suitable space, dressed appropriately, with their camera on unless we have agreed otherwise.
  9. Conduct. We expect respectful behaviour from everyone in a lesson, and our tutors will show the same respect to students and families. If behaviour in a lesson is abusive, unsafe or seriously disruptive, the tutor may end the lesson. A lesson ended for this reason is charged as normal. If problems continue, we may end our services. In that case, we will refund any credit for lessons not yet taken.

10. Your data

We handle personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy.

11. Our liability

We provide our services with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

12. Concerns and complaints

If something goes wrong, please contact us at support@betterlifetuition.com or on 07956 191419. We will acknowledge your concern within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 10 working days.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force when you book applies to that booking. We will tell you about any significant change that affects lessons you have already paid for.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there.
