Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions families ask us most often before beginning tuition with Better Life Tuition — grouped by topic so you can find what matters to you.
Our tuition and how it works
What subjects and levels does Better Life Tuition offer?
Better Life Tuition provides tuition in GCSE and IGCSE Science and Mathematics, alongside A-Level Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.
How does Better Life Tuition differ from traditional tutoring?
Our approach combines strong subject teaching with mentoring. Alongside academic knowledge, we help students improve how they approach learning, interpret questions, respond to pressure and develop greater confidence and independence.
Is tuition delivered online?
Yes. Better Life Tuition specialises in online tuition and mentoring, allowing students to receive structured academic support from home while still benefiting from regular interaction with their tutor.
What are the benefits of online tuition compared with in-person tuition?
Online tuition removes travel time for everyone involved, which makes scheduling far easier and means a student can work from a familiar environment. It also gives tutors access to digital whiteboards, shared screens and resources that can be revisited later, and it keeps every document relating to a student’s progress in one place.
It does depend on a reliable internet connection and a reasonably quiet place to work. Where those two things are in place, we find online sessions are every bit as effective as sitting at the same table.
What technology does my child need for online sessions?
A computer, laptop or tablet, a reliable internet connection, a webcam and a microphone. Headphones are helpful but not essential.
We also ask students to be sitting at their desk around five minutes before the lesson begins, with books, pens and any other materials ready. It is a small habit that makes a noticeable difference to what a session achieves.
How often should we schedule sessions?
That depends on the student’s needs and goals. Most families begin with one regular weekly session per subject, increasing in the run-up to mocks and final examinations where it is useful to do so.
Our consistent experience is that a steady rhythm maintained across the year builds far more than intensive bursts of work close to an exam.
Is Better Life Tuition suitable for students who lack confidence?
Yes. Academic confidence is often closely connected to performance. Our mentoring-led approach is designed to help students develop stronger learning habits, better emotional regulation and a more constructive interpretation of setbacks.
Tutors, safety and safeguarding
How do you select your tutors?
Our tutors have relevant UK academic experience — subject specialists, experienced support teachers and high-performing undergraduates in relevant fields. Every tutor holds an enhanced DBS, receives safeguarding training, and is personally trained by our founder, Nader Fadaee, to teach lessons that return to fundamentals and build durable skills.
Are your tutors DBS checked?
Yes. All Better Life Tuition tutors are DBS checked. Safeguarding is a core responsibility, and tutors are expected to meet our professional and safeguarding standards before working with students.
Are lessons recorded?
No. Better Life Tuition does not record tuition sessions. Keeping sessions confidential protects personal data in line with GDPR and safeguarding best practice, and it builds trust between mentor and student.
In practice, it also means students ask questions more freely and make mistakes more readily — which is precisely where the learning happens. Our no-recording policy is not only about compliance; it is about creating the conditions for genuine progress.
Is online tuition safe?
Safeguarding sits at the centre of how we operate. Every tutor is DBS checked and safeguarding trained, sessions are not recorded, and lesson links are never shared publicly.
Student records — lesson notes, homework and reports — are held in Google Drive, where data is encrypted both in transit and at rest, access is controlled by permission rather than shared openly, and accounts are protected by two-factor authentication.
What happens if my child and the tutor are not a good match?
If at any point you feel the fit isn’t quite right, email support@betterlifetuition.com and we will arrange a swift, no-fuss rematch with a tutor who better suits your child’s needs and personality.
Continuity matters to us, so lesson notes and targets carry over to the new tutor.
Progress and reporting
How will I know how my child is progressing?
We believe parents should have a clear understanding of their child’s progress. After every lesson, your tutor writes a concise report within 24 hours covering the aim of the session, what was taught, the progress made, any difficulties encountered and the homework set.
Each student has a dedicated Google Drive containing lesson notes, homework and reports, so families can keep track of progress, priorities and areas for development.
What happens if a lesson report is missing?
Please let us know. Reports are part of the promise we make to every family, so if one has not been written within 24 hours of a lesson, get in touch and we will reimburse you for that lesson.
Do you guarantee particular grades?
No responsible tuition provider can guarantee a particular academic result. A student’s final outcome depends on several factors, including their own effort, attendance, school provision and examination performance.
What we do promise is high-quality teaching, honest feedback, thoughtful mentoring and a genuine commitment to helping each student make the strongest progress possible.
Fees, cancellations and refunds
How much does tuition cost?
Fees depend on the level studied and the format of support chosen. We also offer membership plans and discounted bulk bookings for families who want to commit to a longer period of work.
Get in touch and we will send you our current fee schedule along with an honest view of how much support your child is likely to need.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. We operate a 24-hour cancellation policy, which means we reserve the right to charge for a lesson where notice has not been given within a 24-hour window.
Do you grant partial refunds?
Yes. Clients who have paid for four weeks of lessons and wish to stop the service are entitled to a partial refund of any lessons not yet taken. Contact your tutor or mentor and we will begin processing it straight away.
Please note that this does not apply to families on a membership plan, which carries its own terms.
How do we claim our money back if we decide to stop tuition?
Email support@betterlifetuition.com and we will arrange the return of any remaining credit on your account.
If you decide to stop within your first three months, you are entitled to a full refund of unused credit; outside that window we process a pro-rata refund of unused credit. Membership plans have different terms.
If something goes wrong
What happens if I have a concern?
Please contact us as soon as possible. We take concerns seriously and will aim to understand what has happened, respond fairly and, where reasonably possible, put things right.
You can email support@betterlifetuition.com or call 07956 191419 .
